Homemade play dough. A staple preschool activity in our house when I need a good 3 minutes to myself (ha if your a mom you know!)
Since I am working towards making our home cleaner and filled with less toxic products I like to make my own to avoid whatever makes the store bought kind smell that way 🥴. Your kids could eat this stuff if they wanted (I don’t recommend it but…) and they wouldn’t be eating anything toxic.
I also like to add in a few drops of lavender, Balance or peppermint essential oils to make it an even more sensory friendly activity and have the kids reap the benefits of the essential oils as they play.
1 cup flour
1 cup water
2 tsp cream of tartar
â…“ cup of salt
1 tblsp oil
food colouring
Combine dry ingredients, food colouring until you get your desired colour and then water in a glass or stainless steal bowl. Transfer to a pot and cook on medium/low heat. Stir continuously until dough gathers around spoon. Remove dough from pot and let cool on parchment paper. When cool enough to touch add 3-5 drops of your favourite essential oil and knead to combine.
